The major shakeup in the Nigerian Army has led Maj-Gen. Chris Musa to become the new Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) in Northeast. The appointments and redeployment were made for dozens of military officers and men across the various Army formations. Army Director for Public Relations, Brig-Gen. Mohammed Yerima in a statement Friday in Maiduguri disclosed: “These appointments and redeployment are in line with the vision of the Chief of Army Staff, Maj-Gen. Farouk Yahaya. “The deployments are to have a professional Nigerian Army ready to accomplish assigned missions within a Joint Environment in Defense of the country,” he said. He said all posting and appointments are to immediately take effect in military formations across the country.
The shake-up was made after President Muhammadu Buhari appointed Yahaya as the new Chief of Army Staff following the death of Lieutenant-General Ibrahim Attahiru. Those affected in the Army’s reorganization include; Maj-Gen. FO Omoigui from Headquarters Theatre Command Operation Hadin Kai to Land Forces Simulation Centre Nigeria and appointed Director-General, Maj-Gen. CG Musa from Nigerian Army Resource Centre to Headquarters Theatre Command Operation Hadin Kai. Musa has been appointed the new Theatre Commander.
Also, Maj-Gen. OR Aiyenigba from the Defence Headquarters to Headquarters Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police and appointed Provost Marshal (Army). Maj -Gen. IM Jallo from Defence Space Administration to Headquarters Theatre Command Operation Hadin Kai and appointed as Deputy Theatre Commander. Others affected in the posting include; Brigadier General NU Muktar from Nigeria High Commission Islamabad to Office of the Chief of Army Staff. He is appointed as Director of Procurement. Brig-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu from Defense Headquarters ( Director Defence Information) to Headquarters Directorate of Army Public Relations, as the new Director.
Brig-Gen. AE Abubakar from Department of Training and Operations ( Defunct) to Headquarters 22 Brigade and appointed Commander. Brig-Gen. KO Ukandu from Office of the Chief of Army Staff (Director Procurement) to National Defense College and appointed Directing Staff. Brig-Gen. IB Abubakar from Nigerian Army Armour School to Army Headquarters Department of Army Operations and appointed Deputy Director Operations. Brigadier General AM Umar from Army War College Nigeria to Office of the Chief of Army Staff and appointed Chief of Staff to the Chief of Army Staff. Brig-Gen. AJS Gulani from Nigerian Army Armour School to Headquarters 24 Task Force Brigade and appointed Commander.
Others are; Colonel KE Inyang from Headquarters Department of Army Logistics to Office of the Chief of Army Staff and appointed Military Assistant to the Chief of Army Staff. Colonel OO Braimah from Headquarters Theatre Command Operation HADIN KAI to Nigeria High Commission Islamabad and appointed Defense Attache and Colonel IP Omoke from Office of the Chief of Army Staff to Defense Intelligence Agency and appointed Assistant Director Foreign Liaison/ Liaison Officer(Army). He said that Maj.-Gen. O.R. Aiyenigba was redeployed from Defense Headquarters to Nigerian Army Corps of Military Police as Provost Marshal (Army), while Maj.-Gen. I.M. Jallo was appointed Deputy Theatre Commander 1 OPHK. “Others affected in the posting include Brig.-Gen. N.U. Muktar moved from Nigeria High Commission Islamabad to the Office of the Chief of Army Staff and was appointed Director of Procurement,” said Yerima in the statement.
Brig-Gen. Onyema Nwachukwu, Director Defense Information moves to Headquarters Directorate of Army Public Relations and appointed Director and Brig.-Gen. A.E. Abubakar has been appointed Commander of 22 Brigade. He added that Brig-Gen. K.O. Ukandu moves to National Defense College as Directing Staff, Brigadier General I.B. Abubakar moved from Nigerian Army Armour School and was appointed Deputy Director Operations. The Chief of Army Staff, Yahaya urged all the affected senior officers to justify the confidence reposed in them.
