The Norwegian Capacity Building (NORCAP) in partnership with the Network of Civil Society Organizations (NCSO) and Lake Chad Basin civil society network has developed the capacity of civil society in Borno. The capacity building workshop is being assessed under the Lake Chad Basin capacity development project. While declaring it open on Monday in Maiduguri, NORCAP’s localization expert, Syed Hassan disclosed: “We’re committed to strengthen the capacity of the civil society organizations (CSOs) in the Northeast,” noting that the CSOs are strategic and the first respondents in providing support to their communities in the Lake Chad Basin.
“This event is both virtual and offline with 300 CSOs participating across the 36 states, including Abuja, the federal capital territory,” he said. The Adamawa State CSN Chairman, Peter Micheal reiterated the need for localization of interventions to sustain the CSOs’ capacity building and assessment for performance. The State Executive Director of NCSO Amb. Ahmed Shehu, who doubles as Regional Coordinator of the Lake Chad basin CSO network, said: “The essence of the workshop is to develop the capacity of the CSOs and identify their strengths for improvements.
