The Speaker, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa and Members of the Lagos State House of Assembly eulogised Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Oba Saheed Ademola Elegusi of IkateLand and Alhaji Musiliu Adeola Kunbi Smith, Former Inspector General of Police and Chairman, Police Service Commission as they celebrate their birthday. Describing Asiwaju Tinubu as a man enriched with intellectual capacity, during Plenary on Monday; Speaker Obasa advocated that government is not about religion but commitment, vision, knowledge as well as the conviction of Asiwaju’s worthiness to successfully sail the ship of the country. “We are strong believers in the capacity of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to manage both the State and country at large. So, I urge Nigerians to rally round him come 2023 presidential elections.” He solicited. Hon. Victor Akande lauded Tinubu as a preacher of truth and justice with an unflinching humanity and humility. He said, Asiwaju Tinubu is a stabiliser and a political philosopher who predicted lots of things that has come to pass, he is the only man left that can move our country forward”. He said. Hon. Rasheed Makinde further maintained that Asiwaju who served as a Senator and a two-term Governor of the State, is a man of the moment who believed in human emancipation and growth. “He is a man with a large heart and a great team player. We, the youth of Nigeria want him to lead this great country come 2023 Presidential election. We wish him long life and whatsoever he wishes himself.” He added. Hon. Members also paid homage to Oba Saheed Elegushi, the Elegushi of Ikateland and Alhaji Musiliu Adeola Kunbi Smith, former Inspector General of Police and Chairman Police Service Commission as they celebrate their birthday. Celebrating the Former IGP, Hon. Femi Saheed portrayed Alhaji Musiliu Smith as a phenomenon that reformed the Nigerian Police Service Commission. “A man who taught many that money acquired through an illegal means is not earned for success.” Hon. Folajimi Mohammed depicted Oba Elegushi as a young Prince who has taken the mantle of leadership to transform the Ikate Empire to admirable one as he was able to strike a balance in preserving the heritage and culture in Ikateland. The Speaker also joined the rest of the world to congratulate the quintessential Kabiyesi who ensure progress and peace in Lagos State. He prayed that Allah will continue to increase his wisdom and knowledge. He urged other traditional rulers to contribute immensely to ensure development and growth of the State. The Speaker thereafter directed the Acting Clerk of the House, Mr. Olalekan Onafeko to forward a congratulatory letter to the celebrants. In an unrelated development, the “Victim Assistance and Witness Protection Bill, 2021’’; and ‘‘Lagos State Employment Trust Fund (Amendment) Bill, 2021’’ were read for the first time.
