The Acting Borno State Governor, Umar Kadafur has distributed 15 tons of rice and other food items to 34,000 households in Maiduguri Metropolitan Council (MMC) and Jere. The donated food items by Dangote Foundation, A.A Rano, Baba Buhari Initiative led by Hon. Aminu Sani, Nigerian Customs Services and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation were to cushion the hardships of households during the Raman fast. While distributing the items Friday in Maiduguri, as his outside first assignment, he disclosed: “Many of the households that were affected by insurgency needed food items to complete their Ramadan,” noting that other philanthropists should emulate the donors to provide more palliatives to the less privileged. He warned members of the households against selling the distributed items for profits. Chairman of Borno the State palliative committee, Alhaji Bukar Talba told Kadafur that 1,500 bags each of rice and other food items were allocated to households in Maiduguri metropolis. He urged the people to pray for the restoration of peace in the state.
