The Speaker, Rt. Hon. (Dr.) Mudashiru Obasa has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to as a matter of urgency address insecurity and other developing issues affecting the nation; expressing the need to identify the factors responsible for the underlying regress of security in the Country. He proffered that the nation must address federal policies sympathetic to the citizens particularly the youth, ensuring that substantial needs are met, revamping strategies to improve employment opportunities. Suggesting that increase in security personnel would ensure less perpetrators in the act of crime; He further advised that engaging the youth to show more concern about the state of violence will stem the tide of violence and destruction. Speaking under Matter of Urgent Public Importance during Plenary on Tuesday; Hon. Sanai Agunbiade condemned the incessant attacks and security challenges posed by Boko-Haram insurgency, IPOB and other banditry association which claims lives and properties of citizens in some parts of the Country. He however, stated that the insurgency is becoming worrisome as no geographical zone in the country is free from this era of violence attack, “The Situation in Nigeria is already leading to tribal agitation for successor and the beauty of Nigeria lies in its unity and peace.” “We have to show concern because villages and towns are deserted; community heads are been kidnapped and Police Stations are also attacked and burnt. Many academic institutions, students and internally displaced Persons, IDPs are killed and kidnapped.” He maintained. Members of the House while commending the Mr. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for sustaining the security architecture that has continue to protect the lives and properties in the State, urged that more effort be made in securing the communities and sensitive places in the State with CCTV cameras. Also, to further equip security officials of the Lagos Neighborhood Safety Corps, LNSC to strengthen their services in the realm of surveillances and to pay more attention to data collection of residents in the State. The House consequently, directed the Acting Clerk of the House, Mr. Olalekan Onafeko to send a condolence letter to the Kaduna State House of Assembly in the fire incident that gulfed the Institution recently.
