The 27 Task Force Brigade, Nigerian Army has closed Damaturu/Biu road over Boko Harm attack of Kumuya military base in Yobe. The Kumuya attacked military base, is located along the 130-kilometre road, before closing it to motorists and commuters for three days in Borno and Yobe states. Confirming the incident Sunday in Maiduguri, Kumuya village head, Abdu Yuguda disclosed: “The terrorists in gun trucks struck when the special forces of the 27 Task Force Brigade, deployed at Buni Gari. “They went for clearance operations in the Damaturu/Biu axis of Sambisa Forest, where the insurgents are hibernating.” He said that the terrorists aided by local informants and sympathizers stormed Kumuya community. “We were attacked and harmed, while the military base was destroyed along with their heavy fighting equipment along the road.” He said the terrorists used heavy weapons in destroying military equipment and patrolled the community to prevent the reinforcement of soldiers. While lamenting attacks on roads, he said: “Despite the attack, troops that were already on ground still came out and engaged the insurgents. “The insurgents were eventually overpowered by Nigerian troops mobilized to reinforce those initially at the base.” He said that the reinforcement of troops at base, seven villagers were killed, including three motorists travelling to Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.
