No less than 43 companies have participated in the contracts bids for 13 capital projects of University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital (UMTH). According to hospital authorities, the 2021 capital projects include the upgrade of UMTH kidney centre, procurement of medical equipment and completion of child and adolescent institute in Maiduguri. Speaking after the bidding exercise Wednesday, Prof. Sandabe, who represented the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Ahmed Ahijo lauded the turnout of bidders for the projects. He said the technical committee would soon analyze the bids before advising the management of tenders committee to award the contracts. Some of the contractors also commended the transparency biddings for projects’ contracts. They therefore urged the committee to sustain the bidding process. Others that witnessed the bidding included representatives of the media, the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences (ICPC), and the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB).
