LAGOS ASSEMBLY PASSES UNLAWFUL SOCIETIES AND CULTISM (PROHIBITION) BILL, 2020

Lagos State House of Assembly during Plenary on Monday passed into Law a Bill for a Law to provide for the Prohibition of Unlawful Societies and Cultism in Lagos State and for other connected purposes.

This was done after the third reading on the floor of the House and after amendments has been made.

The Bill provides that a person shall not form, organise or belong to any named, unnamed society within the State whose objective is illegal, destructive, unlawful or contrary to public policy, safety and peace as such society shall be regarded as unlawful.

The Speaker thereafter directed the Acting Clerk, Mr. Olalekan Onafeko to forward a clean copy of the Bill to the Governor for his assent.
