Governor Babagana Zulum of Borno state; has signed the N108.8 billion
revised budget 2020 into law by 35 per cent.
According to him; the State Government presented N147 billion budget
proposals last December for House of Assembly passage.
While assenting revised budget Monday at Government House, Maiduguri,
Zulum disclosed that; “The downward review of 2020 budget from N147
billion to N108,8 billion was due to economic realities caused by the
coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, affecting global economy.”
He said that the reviewed budget of this year, has reduced total
budgetary proposals by over N38 billion or 35%.
“This administration is committed to an effective and efficient
implementation of 2020 Budget,” he said.
He therefore; directed the Secretary to State Government, Usman Shuwa,
to liaise with Ministry of Finance and Economic Planning; to ensure
strict compliance to budgetary provisions.
Zulum added that the Ministry of Finance, should also review its
medium term expenditure framework in line with the revised budget of
N108.8 billion.
“We’re determined to ensure an effective implementation of the revised
budget,” he said; noting that budget is an important component of
governance and accountability to the people.
