The Borno State Police Command, has restricted the movements of
vehicles to ensure a hitch-free Eid-el-Kabir celebration in Maiduguri
metropolis.
The restriction that commences from 6am to 12 noon today (Friday);
comprises motor vehicles, tricycles, bicycles, wheel barrows,
including means of transport by horses, donkeys and camels.
While announcing vehicular restrictions Thursday in Maiduguri, the
State Police Commissioner, Aliyu Mohammed disclosed that; “Residents
of Maiduguri metropolis and Jere council; are hereby informed that
there will be restriction of all categories of vehicles.
Mohammed, who was represented by Acting Spokesman, Yakubu Mohammed;
noted that during six-hour vehicular restriction, Muslims could have
finished their prayers in communities.
He warned that no bags, weapons or sharp objects of any kind be
allowed to the praying grounds.
He also reminded parents and guardians to be mindful of their children
and wards for being mission during Sallah.
On being safe and protected at Eid-el-Kabir, he said: “Owing to the
ravaging effect of coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, worshipers are
advised to go with their face masks to praying grounds,” adding that
they are to observe social distancing and safety measures
He therefore, urged worshipers to pray at nearest community praying
grounds. “Failure to abide with COVID-19 protocols could prevent you
from accessing the Eid praying grounds.” he warned. He urged members
of public to be security conscious and report all suspicious persons,
activities or objects to police and other security agencies.
