The Yobe State United Marketers Association (YUMA) and Fune council stakeholders from south senatorial district; have endorsed Maimala Buni; as governorship candidate for next year’s election. Buni is the National Secretary of All Progressive Congress (APC), before Governor Ibrahim Gaidam anointed him at a Stakeholders meeting held in Damaturu, the state capital. Announcing the endorsement on Monday in Damaturu, Chairman of YUMA, Alhaji Isa Adamu disclosed that the association has 185 office branches in four councils of Potiskum, Fika, Fune and Nangere to consolidate the endorsement of Buni. According to him, members of the association have unanimously resolved to adopt the APC National Secretary on the basis of competence and better understanding. His words: “He has the potentials to continue with the development policies and projects initiated by the Gaidam administration. “Members of the association met on several occasions and extensively deliberated on the qualities and competence of the aspirants to arrive at supporting Buni.” He said the marketers had over the years been taking a united position based on the competence of individual candidates. On Buni’s adoption, he said: “The association in 2011 and 2015 introduced this measure of a united front to adopt the most competent candidate. “We set aside our political differences to adopt the best candidate with the potentials to improve our lives. This time we adopted him as our governorship candidate.”
