Jutha Gupah, Damaturu, July 11, 2018.
Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe state has tasked top government officials in the civil service to cooperate and to work with management teams and staff for efficient service deliveries to the people.
Gaidam gave the task on Tuesday in Damaturu, while swearing in over a dozen appointed senior government officials, as permanent secretaries, chairmen and members of boards and commissions and the director general of press affairs at Government House.
He said the “close working relationship” among top government officials was to ensure an effective and efficient service delivery at the state and council levels.
His words: “I urge all of you before me to always live above in discharging your duties. This will be in line with the goals of this administration for effective and efficient service deliveries.”
Gaidam also charged the newly sworn-in chairman of Civil Service Commission (CSC) to liaise closely with the office of the Head of Service (HoS), so as to reinvigorate the civil service for performance and efficiency.
“You are to ensure the training and re-training of workers in all cadres and grade levels for effective succession planning,” said Gaidam.
He also added: “This I believe is the surest way of achieving objectives on capacity building and filling the vacuum expected to be created by the retirement of experienced civil servants.”
He noted that a vacuum is being created in the civil service and will intensify in a few years to come.
