The National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC)

illegal operations and unhygienic baking practices.
Addressing journalists at a news conference on Thursday in Maiduguri,
Coordinator of the Agency, Nasiru Mato disclosed that the bakeries
were operating without licenses and non-adherence to guidelines and
standards of baking.
He said the affected bakeries had been operating in the metropolis
without licenses and minimum standards of operations.
His words: “These bakeries were sealed off by the agency for
non-compliance with standard operational guidelines and failure to
renew their licenses.
“Some of the bakeries were closed down; due to poor sanitation and
unhygienic practices, while baking bread and other confectioneries for
public consumption.”
The sealed bakeries, according to him, include Nurul Aini, Nice Bread,
D-Boss, Save the Nation, Albarka, Ever-Nice and Aljazeera, and other

According to him, some of them bakeries are not registered by NAFDAC;
while others operate with fake label, product name and addresses.

comply with our guidelines to check sale and distribution of
unwholesome products. This is to protect public health,” said Mato.
