A 36-year-old-man, Chijioke Nwobi, who allegedly beat his 51-year-old landlady on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court.
The accused, an automobile dealer, who resides at 14A Reuben Chiacha St., Ago-Okota, Lagos, is being tried for assault.
The prosecutor, Insp. Clifford Ogu, told the court that the offence was committed on Jan. 21 at the accused’s residence.
Ogu said that a fight ensued between the accused and his landlady, Mrs Doris Eze, over house cleaning.
“The accused used belt and flogged the woman mercilessly and this caused injuries on her head, leg and hand.
“The case was reported at the Police station and the accused was arrested,’’ he said.
The offences contravened Sections 170 and 173 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
