The National Assembly has been charged to hasten the passage of the next year’s financial estimates to guarantee its full implementation.
The National President of the Network of Civil Society Stakeholders for Development Programmes, a coalition of Civil Societies, Associations, Community Based Organizations and NGOs, Alhaji Abdulhadi Tajudeen made the call in Ilorin while addressing journalists at the end of the inauguration of its members in Kwara State.
Alhaji Tajudeen noted that the Network was not satisfied with the delay in the passage of this year’s budget, thus affecting its full implementation.
The National President who explained that for the past one year the Network has been collating policies statement of the government with a view to offering advice on government’s programmes, said it was established to track and monitor Sustainable Development Goals Projects across the country.
Alhaji Tajudeen maintained that the funding of the Network is based on individual donations and sought the collaboration of the media and other key stakeholders to realize the desired goals especially on the implementation of budgets, peace and conflict resolutions.
On domestic crisis in Nigeria, he said the Network had sent a memo to the Presidency to convert the Nigeria Institute of Peace and Conflicts Resolution to a Commission to enable it address internal crisis in the country.
Also speaking, the Kwara State Coordinator of the Network, Ms Toni Adeleke, stressed the need for communities to be involved in the monitoring and tracking of government’s projects, particularly at the grassroots.
