Troops of 26, 28 Task Force Brigades and 114 Task Force Battalion of
Operation Lafiya Dole killed 18 Boko Haram terrorists on Sunday; while repelling insurgents’ attacks on Pulka and Bitta military posts in
Borno state. Bitta is at the central part of Sambisa Forest, while Pulka, a border village with Cameroon, is at eastern flank of the forest.
One of the terrorists was however captured alive, with the recovery of
arms, ammunition and vehicles.

This was disclosed yesterday in a statement issued by Director of Army Public Relations, Brig-Gen. Sani Usman to journalists in Maiduguri.

He said that the daring attacks by the fleeing insurgents occurred at
Pulka and Bitta, before they were repelled, after killing 16 of them.
According to Usman, the second attack was on troops of 114 Task Force Battalion of the army.

The statement reads: “The troops came under three-pronged attack by Boko Haram terrorists fanning out Sambisa Forest in the Damboa-Tokumbere-Pulka axis of Borno state.

“At the end of the debacle, two Boko Haram insurgents paid for their
atrocities with their lives while several others sustained gunshot injuries, and fled. The fate that befell those that attack Pulka was more dreadful.

He said there was no casualty on the side of troops, with the exception two soldiers that sustained minor injuries in the repulsion.

On recovered arms and ammunition, Usman said: “The gallant troops also recovered 11 AK 47 rifles, three Genera Purpose Machine Guns, a
Browning Machine Gun, and two Toyota Hilux vehicles.

“Others are a 60mm mortar tube, seven boxes of 12.7mm ammunition and a belt of 12.7mm ammunition. The troops remained on maximum alert and are equally busy consolidating and continuing with their clearance operations with high morale.”
