Seven people feared killed in Adamawa fresh attacks

Barely 24 hours after Military Services Chiefs strategised to end insurgency, suspected Boko Haram terrorists attacked Miltho village in Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa state, killing seven people in the early hours of Wednesday.

The insurgents, who burst into the village from eastern flank of Sambisa Forest, also injured 10 villagers, before fleeing with carted food items.
Papka Madu, a member of vigilante group disclosed this Wednesday afternoon in a telephone interview with The Guardian. “Despite the attacks, some of our villagers were able to flee into nearby bushes and hills,” said Madu on phone.

He said that the armed terrorists attacked the village in the early hours of Wednesday, after the announcement of Acting President for service chiefs to relocate to Maiduguri on Monday. “The killed villagers were shot while they were sleeping; and they not aware of whant is happening with other neighbours,” he said. On how the village was attacked, he said: “They stormed our village on motorbikes and immediately opened fire on the people and behead others with knives.

“As at the last count, seven people were killed while about 10 others were injured and were rushed to a clinic at Gulak.” Chairman of Madagali Local Government Area, Muhammad Yusuf, confirmed the death of seven people, but said the total figure was uncertain.

“You know I travelled to Yola and my deputy just confirmed to me that seven people were killed as houses and shops (were) burnt by suspected insurgents,” he said.
