The attention of the Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike ( CON, GSSRS), has been drawn to the illegal activities of some proprietors of unapproved private schools whose institutions will be officially shut down on September 1, 2017 by the State Government.
These proprietors have resorted to bribing top officials of the State Ministry of Education to have their schools re-certified without following due process.
The governor warns the said proprietors of the unapproved schools to desist from bribing top officials of the State Ministry of Education, as their criminal acts of bribery will not lead to the re-certification of their schools.
All proprietors involved in this illegality are doing so at their own risk.
Only the Rivers State Governor has the authority to re-certify any of the illegal schools marked for closure by September 1, 2017.
The statement adds that an investigation has been conducted to ascertain the officials and proprietors involved in this scam. The indicted officials and proprietors shall face the full weight of the law.
