The wife of the president Mrs Aisha Buhari has called on leaders, both political and corporate, to assist women with startup funds, so that they can engage in income generating activities.
Mrs Buhari was speaking during the graduation and certificate presentation to 1000 women who received skills training from her Future Assured programme, in kano.
Speaking further she said women should engage in income generating activities, so that they can live, more productive lives, and reaffirmed her commitment to empowering women
The wife of the President later went round with members of her entourage to inspect the finished products of the graduants
4,000 Mama kits were also distributed to promote safe motherhood to expectant mothers , and 3,000 school bags given to secondary school girls to encourage female education in the state.
Mrs. Buhari was accompanied by the wife of the Vice President Mrs. Dolapo Osinbajo, wives of the governors of Kogi, Sokoto, Nassararwa, Jigawa and Zamfara state as well as some of her associates
Mrs Buhari later went to visit the eight month old baby allegedly raped in kano, visibly upset by the incident Mrs Buhari called on parents to be vigilant
