Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Toye Arulogun, has urged Nigerians especially the youths to embrace entrepreneurship, stating that only enterprising people would successfully survive the current economic climate.
Arulogun, who stated this at the 1st annual personality guest lecture organised by Unibadan Association of Dental Students, noted that being innovative is a panacea to the lingering economic recession and high level unemployment rate in Nigeria.
While delivering his lecture titled “Innovation: The Entrepreneurs key to Success”, the commissioner explained that multi- skilled and talented individuals who are innovative, visionary with the determination to excel in life are the people who with higher success rate especially in the current harsh economic period.
According to him, “The Nigerian education curriculum should include entrepreneurship and our youth must be ready to innovate. We cannot continue to breed graduates who look forward to being employed. Rather the paradigm must shift to graduates who are primed to be employers of labour. For such entrepreneurs to succeed, innovation is key”
In his own lecture entitled ‘The Brooding economy: our Stand our Role’, the State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Abayomi Oke, highlighted insurgency in the south-east, Fulani herdsmen attacks, Boko-haram bombing, killings in various parts of the country as some social vices bedeviling the nation which have not helped the current economic recession in the country.
He urged Nigerians to join hands to arrest these social vices, noting that the growth and the development of the country is the responsibility of all and sundry.
Oke restated that the Ajimobi-led administration would continue to create employment opportinities and empowerment for the youths in the state.
